'Sconnie Six Pack 11/16
The Badgers hang-on for a close win over UW-GB, the Bucks play against the Cavaliers tonight, and more!
Wisconsin holds off UW-Green Bay for an 11 point victory
It did not look pretty, but the Wisconsin men’s basketball team won last night improving their record to 3-0 on the season. Despite never trailing in the game, the Badgers struggled throughout and there were not many positives to take away.
Wisconsin missed its first five shots from the field and it was a sign of its offensive ineptitude to be displayed throughout the night. As a team, the Badgers shot just 30.2% from the field. The Badgers were buoyed, however, by making eight of 19 three-point attempts. Tyler Wahl and Chucky Hepburn combined for a mere four of 25 shooting on the night as neither of Wisconsin’s key contributors reached double-digit scoring. The Badgers’ only double-digit scorer on the night was Jordan Davis whose 11 points included a three-pointer that snapped a nine minute and 20 second field goal drought in the second half.
Jordan Davis also shined on the defensive end - and Wisconsin needed every bit of defensive help to pull away with the win. Davis had two steals and a block - both team highs. Wisconsin held UW-Green Bay to a mere 34.1% shooting from the field and only two of 14 from three-point range. Wisconsin has been impeccable defending the three thus far this year. The Badgers held South Dakota and Stanford to just two of 15 and one of 16 from three-point range respectively.
The Badgers are back in action one week from today against Dayton in their first round game at the Battle 4 Atlantis. Dayton, of the Atlantic 10 conference, currently ranks 30th at KenPom, 17 spots ahead of Wisconsin.
The Bucks host the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight
The Milwaukee Bucks host the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight. You can catch tonight’s game at 7:00PM CST on Bally Sports Wisconsin.

Despite it appearing this afternoon he might play, Pat Connaughton will not make his return tonight for the Bucks. Connaughton has been held out of action to start the season with a calf injury. On the Bucks’ latest injury report, he was upgraded from questionable to probable. His return would have been a huge development for the Bucks as they have struggled on offense with many of the guards on their roster missing time with injury. Jrue Holiday is out for tonight’s game with an ankle injury and Grayson Allen is out due to the injury he sustained in Milwaukee’s loss on Monday night to the Hawks.
With many of their guards out of the lineup, the Bucks will need to find an offensive spark as they face one of the NBA’s best offenses in the Cavaliers. The Bucks have been one of the worst shooting teams in the NBA so far this season. By contrast, the Cavaliers have been the 10th best shooting team and the 2nd best three-point shooting team in the NBA.
Of particular interest for jersey fanatics, the Bucks will wear their recently unveiled city edition jerseys for this season. The court at Fiserv Forum has similarly been given a makeover.
Packers sign RB Patrick Taylor to the active roster following the release of RB Kylin Hill
The Packers filled one of the two roster spots they had available today. The two spots were made available by the moves earlier this week to release WR Amari Rodgers and RB Kylin Hill. Today, the Packers signed RB Patrick Taylor to the 53-man roster once again. Taylor was previously on the active roster before being waived to make room for Hill’s return to the active roster when he returned from injury.
Putting it simply - Kylin Hill got hurt, Patrick Taylor went from the practice squad to the active roster, Kylin Hill returned, Patrick Taylor went back to the practice squad, Kylin Hill got cut, Patrick Taylor is back on the active roster. What the Packers have seen from Taylor and Hill in the last two weeks to make this switch again is unclear, but it appears GM Brian Gutekunst has decided he prefers Taylor at RB3.
The Packers added LB Tim Ward and WR Dede Westbrook to the practice squad. With injuries throughout the season plaguing both the Packers’ linebacker and wide receiver rooms, it does not come as a surprise that the Packers added some depth at those positions.
The Packers have one final roster spot they can fill before tomorrow night’s game against the Tennessee Titans. Speculation says that spot will go to WR Randall Cobb who is eligible to return from injured reserve this week.
Packers submit final injury report ahead of Thursday Night Football matchup against Tennessee Titans
The Packers have ruled out ILB De’Vondre Campbell and WR Romeo Doubs from tomorrow night’s game against the Tennessee Titans. This will be the third consecutive game Campbell will miss with a knee injury. Cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles is listed as doubtful to play with an ankle injury that allowed him to be a limited participant in just one practice this week.
OT David Bakhtiari G/T Elgton Jenkins are listed as questionable. Neither have practiced this week.

With De’Vondre Campbell out, the Packers can look forward to the return of ILB Krys Barnes. Against the Dallas Cowboys, the Packers played with only one reserve inside linebacker as Barnes was held out with a concussion. Barnes has been a full participant in practice all week.
Team USA wins in a shootout - leads rivalry series over Team Canada 1-0
In a thrilling 4-3 victory, Team USA outlasted Team Canada to win the opening game of the Rivalry Series between the globe’s foremost women’s hockey powers. To no one’s surprise, a pair of Badgers were key to Team USA’s victory.
Former Badger Hilary Knight had a goal and an assist in regulation and added a goal during the shootout. On the goal Knight had the primary assist on, the secondary assist came from another former Badger: Abby Roque.
Game two of the Rivalry Series is set for tomorrow night in British Columbia. You can catch it at 9:00PM CST on the NHL Network.
Topping-off the six pack: Remembering Devin Chandler
Following the horrific shooting earlier this week at the University of Virginia that targeted members of its football team, the Cavaliers released a statement today that their game scheduled for this Saturday against Coastal Carolina has been canceled. The events that took place this week are so much bigger than football. Without wanting to move past this story by just writing about it once, I wanted to compile a remembrance of the life of Devin Chandler. Devin played at Wisconsin for two seasons prior to transferring to Virginia and it is clear he had a listing impact on his teammates.
