Postgame Pulse: Wisconsin women's hockey sweeps Minnesota State
Hear what Wisconsin women's hockey head coach Mark Johnson, goaltender Ava McNaughton, and Kelly Gorbatenko after a shutout victory
Down three of its top playmakers, in addition to losing last season’s leading scorer due to graduation, it would have been reasonable to expect a step back offensively for Wisconsin women’s hockey on Sunday.
Don’t tell that to these Wisconsin Badgers.
Eight goals, coming from eight separate goal scorers, gave Wisconsin a dominating shutout of the Minnesota State Mavericks. Better yet, it placed UW back atop the national standings as the highest-scoring team in the country with 5.6 goals per game.
In doing so, Wisconsin surpassed the University of Minnesota women’s hockey team, which is scoring 5.1 GPGs. The Wisconsin Badgers welcome the Minnesota Golden Gophers to Madison next weekend, teeing up a matchup of the two most electrifying offenses in the sport.
Wisconsin head coach Mark Johnson, goaltender Ava McNaughton, and forward Kelly Gorbatenko answered questions from the media following UW’s 8-0 shutout victory over Minnesota State.
