Postgame Pulse: Wisconsin basketball 2025 Red-White Scrimmage
Interviews from Wisconsin basketball coach Greg Gard and transfer Nick Boyd following the Badgers' annual intra-squad exhibition
If it was not clear before Sunday, it should be now: Wisconsin basketball head coach Greg Gard has put the fate of his team in the hands of Nick Boyd. The transfer by way of the San Diego State Aztecs and Florida Atlantic Owls now is being asked to keep his “foot on the gas” for the Wisconsin Badgers.
After finishing sub-300 in Kenpom’s adjusted tempo rankings in 15 of 17 seasons, Wisconsin reached its quickest pace of the Kenpom era. In the 2024-25 campaign, the Badgers cracked not just the top-300, but finished 149th – the program’s second-ever finish inside the top-200 since 1997. If Gard’s comments after his team’s annual intra-squad scrimmage are any indiciation, UW is aiming to bring its tempo up even further this upcoming season.
After the scrimmage inside the Kohl Center, Gard and Boyd answered questions from members of the media, detailing Boyd’s game-high 21-points, early optimism for the next steps in Wisconsin basketball’s offensive evolution, signs of progress for freshmen on defense, and much more.
