This week featured a banner day for Badgers basketball junkies. Local media day: an opportunity to speak to any Wisconsin men’s basketball player, limited availability to talk with assistant coaches, and finally, a Greg Gard press conference.

That opportunity to speak with the Badgers assistant coaches? It was probably the best part of the day. I also got an exclusive interview with Wisconsin basketball’s “offensive coordinator” Kirk Penny. We discussed the revamped offense, NIL, European recruiting, and how to reform college basketball. My gosh, the New Zealander was a chatterbox.

And all that was only an appetizer for an open practice!
